a memory game for music lovers
major tones
Are you a millennial music tragic? A Jukebox Hero? Or just someone who can still belt out all the words to American Pie without missing a beat? Here’s your chance to prove your lyrical prowess.
Lyrics from popular songs have been turned into questions. The Major Tones challenge is to recall the lyric that answers the question. No names, no artists, just song lines.
So, how well do you remember your favourite hits?

ALL THE SMALL THINGS
Major Tones is a music-based card game that tests your lyrical memory. It’s not about naming the artist or song title—it’s about proving you actually know the words. One person reads a lyric-based question, and players have to recall the missing line. It’s fun, nostalgic, and guaranteed to spark some questionable singing.
It’s simple! One player reads a card aloud, which asks a question based on song lyrics. The other players try to recall the missing words. You can play competitively, cooperatively, or just for the fun of it. Full instructions are in the box—promise, they’re easier to follow than IKEA furniture assembly.
Major Tones works with two players or an entire party. Play one-on-one for a head-to-head battle of musical memory, or get a group together and turn it into a full-on showdown. The more, the merrier (and the louder).
Most of the time! While we’ve done our best to keep things clean, some songs might have lyrics that lean into PG-13 territory. If you're playing with younger ones, we recommend a quick card preview before each round.
Not at all! If you’ve ever belted out a chorus in the car or confidently sung the wrong lyrics in the shower, you’re already qualified. The game is all about having fun with music, not acing a pop quiz.
